Salary: $73 572 - 95 641 per year

You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT (PWD) Yorktown of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will Coordinate all maintenance services for assigned facilities. You will work with customers on a daily basis, observing the on-site conditions of their facilities. You will screen all work requirements considering issues of safety, urgency, health and security. You will maintain budget oversight and coordinate work between government forces and contractors to minimize delays. You will coordinate utility and road outages with customers to minimize impact to their missions. You will monitor the progress of all projects, conduct impartial fact-finding studies for warranty or rework determinations and validate actions taken.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require up to 25% travel. If required, such travel may include overnight travel away from the duty station and also travel to other NAVFAC installations or remote sites. Travel by military and commercial aircraft may be required.
  • This position is eligible for telework.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) applying engineering knowledge, Navy Codes, building codes, and safety regulations; 2) Using software systems to prepare specifications, cost estimates, schedules and track quantities. 3) Using computers and application software such as spreadsheets, word processors, databases, graphics, slide presentations and other specialized applications as required.; 4) reading and interpreting engineering drawings, sketches, blueprints and technical manuals; 5) performing cost comparison studies to determine the feasibility of projects and consider alternative solutions Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
