Job opening: ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Salary: $63 676 - 90 946 per year

You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Facilities Engineering & Acquisition Division, Public Works Department Yorktown, of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic. This is a developmental position with a full performance level of GS-11. Applications will be accepted at the GS-10 and GS-11 grade levels.

Duties

You will prepare contract documents (drawings, specification, cost estimates, etc.) for CAT 3/4 construction and maintenance divisions. You will prepare detailed material and labor estimates. You will use computer software applications to document technical work, compile data, prepare reports, or perform research. You will coordinate resolution of technical engineering problems related to mechanical systems or equipment.

  • This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.

Qualifications

GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Applying extensive knowledge of various trades such as Mechanical, Electrical, Utilities, Structural, or Facility Maintenance; 2) Applying extensive knowledge of materials and manpower requirements for various tasks; 3) Preparing technical specifications for procurements as well as task orders with little or no supervision; 4) Attending meetings, site visits, and responding to request for information; 5) Having extensive experience completing technical analysis of contractor proposals; 6) Preparing Government estimates with little or no supervision; and 7) Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products and relevant databases. GS-10 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Applying knowledge of various trades such as Mechanical, Electrical, Utilities, Structural, or Facility Maintenance; 2) Reviewing customer requirements and scheduling meetings with customers and clients to develop a scope of work; 3) Applying knowledge of materials and manpower requirements for various tasks; 4) Preparing technical specifications for procurements as well as task orders; 5) Preparing Government estimates; and 6) Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products and relevant databases.
