About the Position: Serve as an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) standardization officer and technical advisor to the Chief of UAS Branch and the Director of Evaluation and Standardization. This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville.

Duties

Serve as an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) standardization officer and technical advisor to the Chief of UAS Branch and the Director of Evaluation and Standardization. Serve as a Standardization Operator in the UAS Branch to conduct Directorate level assessments as planning lead with UAS units in the field to evaluate their UAS training and standardization programs. Perform, train and serve as a Senior Subject Matter Expert in areas of: Basic and advanced imagery technology and collection systems, communications architecture, analysis, and collection management at the national, theater/joint and tactical levels. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) required ground school aeronautical knowledge to include aircraft systems, aerodynamics, weather, navigation, radio communications, and flight planning. Write United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) concept papers concerning various military aspects and impacts regarding UAS operations and training. Attend meetings at other installations or higher headquarters.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • This position requires that the employee travel away from the normal duty station up to 40% of the time.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One-year specialized experience which includes: 1) Developing aviation policy and procedures. 2) Overseeing organizational aviation operations. 3) Reviewing and evaluating flight training and standardization programs. AND 3) Conducting aviation briefings for senior level management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and TrainingPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
