About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Medical Center Madigan, Hospital Safety, Tacoma, Washington.

Duties
Responsible to valuate, install, maintain, diagnosis, repair, calibrate, and test medical electronic equipment/systems used at Army Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs).
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, and surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment and systems, and modifications based on official guidance.
Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services, inspections operational checks, electrical safety inspections, calibration, and verification performance of medical equipment.
Set up and install new medical systems.
Attend meetings, seminars, and other training to assure consistency with state-of-the-art electronic medical equipment.
Provide technical training, assistance, and guidance to clinical staff and technicians.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation, ( NACI Tier 1).
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 60 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Required to be screened for applicable immunizations.
- This position requires the employee to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Subject to call back to duty to perform emergency repairs on equipment (on-call).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: assisting with installing medical equipment and systems networked related to electronics and automation/networking such as X-ray apparatus, ultrasound scanners, surgical and dermatological lasers, physiological monitoring systems relevant to Environment of Care (EOC). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-08).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
