You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST of NAVY MUNITIONS COMMAND NMC ORD SYS ENG MGMT.

Duties

You will serve as the RADIAC Field Manager for the direct management and coordination of issues pertaining to RADIAC policies, procedures and instructions found in NAVSEA SE700-AA-MAN-230/RADIAC. You will provide administrative, fiscal, operational, and technical guidance and management direction to various participating organizations within an assigned geographical area. You will collaborate with the RADIAC Program Director, Program Managers, and Team Leaders, Type and Group Commanders, Squadron Representatives, End Users, and their staff. You will serve as the NAVSEA Headquarters representative in the assigned geographic area for all matters dealing with the RADIAC Program. You will be responsible for covering all ships and shore activities of the Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Military Sealift Command, and the Navy, located within the Eastern United States, Atlantic, Europe, Mediterranean, and African areas. You will provide corporate guidance in resolving programmatic issues between the RCL and the customers, as needed. You will develop and recommend modifications to improve or eliminate problems in field maintenance, operation, or logistical support.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS - 11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Department of Defense, and Commerce and Transportation Regulatory requirements. Experience with the theory and detection of ionizing radiation and its effects on human beings. Experience researching and interpreting NAVSEA 09rd manuals, such as the navy RADIAC program user's manuals. Experience with the modification, repair, and disposal programs to avoid critical shortages or expensive surpluses. Experience with electronic theory and nuclear physics, as they relate to design characteristics and maintenance requirements of various electronic systems and equipment used for detection, identification and computation of radioactivity. Experience training and providing guidance to users and repairers of equipment. Experience coordinating and providing direction to navy field activities, and fleet operational units that use RADIAC program assets. Experience with funding and fiscal procedures. Experience planning, establishing, implementing, managing, and evaluating programs which encompass a wide variety of disciplines and functional organizations.
