You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the DON Navy Munitions Command of NMC ORD SYS ENG MGMT. This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will provide Depot level material support, logistics transaction and material management services for U.S. and NATO militaries. You will ensure reportable inventory comprising of U.S. and foreign military assets are properly maintained and accurately accounted for. You will perform serviceability and configuration inspections, and emergency cannibalizations to provide technical and logistics research. You will perform inspections and technical assessments for determining material condition and configuration. You will research and investigate discrepant or confused material to evaluate and identify unknown material. You will provide asset maintenance and corrective action to preclude degradation of assets in storage as well as develop and execute storage and warehousing plans.

  • This position requires emergent overtime and occasional recall work.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performs a wide variety of services associated with equipment data such as manufacturing processes, materials, and maintenance requirements; Demonstrates an understanding of configuration management, parts cannibalization, maintenance, preservation, packaging, and storage; Provides technical and logistic research and material management services and be able to identify unknown material; Coordinates shipping and receiving actions and demonstrate experience in inventory and transactional accuracy and storage compliance; Operates material handling equipment such as fork trucks and vehicles to store, relocate, deliver, and ship material. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.

FOR GS-09: SUCCESSFUL completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree;
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11.
