Duties

You will perform engineering technician duties to include assisting in maintaining product quality and implementing continuous process improvements. You will work with engineers and technicians on the resolution of problems associated with product quality as well as the design and adaption of process equipment. You will review test results performed by others to optimize processing. You will assist with material inspections during the manufacturing process. You will maintain current knowledge and assist employees on procedures, policies, and directives.

• You may be required to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, kneel, and lift objects up to 50 pounds.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Work may be performed in an office environment as well as an energetic manufacturing plant/lab setting.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).

Qualifications

FOR THE NT-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-02 (GS-05 through GS-08 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing technical drawings, diagrams, or specifications to perform technical engineering work (e.g., design; quality; or adaptation of production systems and equipment) in support of manufacturing energetic chemicals, materials or related systems. FOR THE NT-02: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-01 (GS-01 through GS-04 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: reading and interpreting technical drawings, diagrams, or specifications to assist technical engineering work (e.g., design; quality; or adaptation of production systems and equipment) in support of manufacturing energetic chemicals, materials or related systems. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

FOR NT-03:

• Have a combination of experience and graduate level education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

FOR NT-02:

• Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics; OR
• A combination of experience and post high school education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
