This position is located in the Management Directorate, Office of Security and Integrity, Threat Management Division, Large Facility Branch As a SECURITY SPECIALIST (FIELD SECURITY MANAGER), you will coordinate local security program oversight for several security disciplines, including information security, operations security, administrative security, communications security and physical security.

Duties

Integrate and implement the USCIS security programs within an assigned regional area of responsibility by providing security guidance and education to agency leadership and personnel. Plan, organize, coordinate, and conduct site surveys, evaluations, and reviews to identify physical security conditions to determine if corrective actions are necessary. Independently conduct periodic announced and unannounced security reviews at facilities within the assigned area of responsibility to maintain an optimum level of security support. Represent the agency at meetings, conferences, and training sessions. Provide a variety of security training to include general security awareness to USCIS personnel. Coordinate local security program oversight for several security disciplines, including information security, operations security, administrative security, communications security, and physical security. Provide accountability guidance for secure equipment, secure forms, and national security information (NSI). Disseminate updated security guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency. Serve as the security expert and project manager regarding security requirements during new and existing construction efforts as well as new facility project planning and design in coordination with appropriate stakeholders.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02/21/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02/21/2024. GS-12: You qualify at the GS-12 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Coordinating local security program oversight for security disciplines, such as information security, operations security, administrative security, communications security and physical security. Assisting in the development of written directives and standard operating procedures. Evaluating the effectiveness of existing security practices. Confirming that personnel comply with established security policies and procedures, and recommending appropriate action to correct deficiencies. GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Independently analyzing and resolving broad and complex security problems. Providing technical expertise in initiating and leading projects involving the evaluation of security programs and operations. Developing and implementing policy, standards, and procedures for security programs. Briefing senior leadership, making recommendations, offering advice about security issues as they affect the organization.
