This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Protective Service (FPS).
The primary purpose of this position to serve as a Physical Security Specialist within the Operations Directorate, Regional Office with an emphasis in electronic security systems.

Duties
As a Physical Security Specialist (Electronics), GS-0080-12, your typical work assignments may include:
Participating in evaluation and assessment of technical countermeasure information technology based video management systems to establish and justify mitigation approach to identify threats.
Advising stakeholders to include Inspectors, Facility Security Committees, and General Services Administration facility managers on electronic security systems deployed within federally owned or leased buildings.
Responsible for maintaining information technology based video management and intrusion detection systems; which includes installing, configuring, updated hardware and software and managing user access privileges adhering to organizational security policies and procedures.
Following guidance of the Technical Security Program Manager, acts as the video management and intrusion detection system information technology project manager to manage information technology based electronic security system projects; Works as system administrator with responsibilities for configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software.
Coordinating technical countermeasure projects within Federal facilities with facility managers, building owners, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

- This position will require a Noncritical Sensitive, High Risk, Tier 5, High Tier, (Secret) clearance to perform the full range of duties.
- The incumbent must satisfactorily complete (or have previously completed) the FPS Physical Security Training Program (PSTP) conducted at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
- The incumbent will be required to travel.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
Understanding, overseeing, resolving, and managing issues related to information technology-based technical countermeasures (TCM's).
Developing and implementing new information technology-based security video management networks and systems to reduce weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
Analyzing technical data to determine equipment compatibility of various electronic security devices to security needs.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.

Essential Personnel Position - This position may be designated as essential personnel. Essential personnel must be able to serve during continuity of operation events without regard to declarations of liberal leave or government closures due to weather, protests, and acts of terrorism or lack of funding. Failure to report for or remain in this position may result in disciplinary or adverse action in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Motor Vehicle Operation: The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license, maintain a safe driving record, and demonstrate that they are qualified to operate a motor vehicle safely in accordance with the standards and procedures established in 5 CFR 930. Periodic verification of license and safe driving records may be required. Additionally, motor vehicles must be driven and managed in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management and FPS' policies and guidance.
Training and Certification: This position will require that the incumbent, at a minimum, obtain and maintain DHS Project Manager Level I and II, A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications within 24 months of employment. This position also requires that the incumbent complete any applicable DHS training.
Education
Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level.
