Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.
Duties
Proposes alternatives to eliminate systemic operational policy, procedures, and systems related shortcomings causing financial management reporting problems.
Leads and/or participates in projects undertaken cooperatively with other DFAS organizations, OSD staff, DOD components.
Customer Relationship Management, consultation, collaboration, and coordination.
Audit and Customer Support and Resolutions.
Develops and delivers customer agreements, billing estimates/budget submissions, and other detailed analytical reports.
Performs as Client Executive Advocate

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
Qualifications
This position has a REQUIRED basic education requirement as follows:
(1) Bachelor's degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR
(2) A Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Your background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality (This can include up to 6 hours of business law). A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess:
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as: Must possess a Resource Management/Budget Submission background and is comfortable in using advanced MS Excel and Powerpoint. Preparing, analyzing, interpreting and presenting accounting data; operating, maintaining, testing, designing, and modifying accounting systems; using accounting information to recommend solutions to management problems and structuring of organization programs; managing, operating, and analyzing accounting systems in connection with other business activities; designing, implementing, and assessing internal control processes and systems.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GS-13 grade level.
