Duties
Plans, prepares, coordinates, and executes all major general officer conferences hosted by 1ID, MSE and Fort Riley.
Serves as a primary card holder, tracks budget to ensure costs do not exceed approved per diem and lodging rates and ensure sound procurement practices and appropriate regulations are enforced.
Works in close conjunction and provides protocol-related guidance to other Protocol Director Personnel and Major Subordinate Units (MSC) who are responsible for arranging travel, lodging, and itineraries of dignitaries.
Maintains currency of joint operations and multicultural protocol of foreign countries and their habits.
Plans, coordinates and executes official social functions, ceremonies (e.g. monthly retirement, change of command/change of responsibility), and special events.
Develops ceremony scripts and presents briefings to the command group for final program approval.
Coordinates and contracts for event locations, meals, and support services.
Oversees unit on field formations, movements, commands, flag placement process of guest lists, invitations, responses, seating arraignments, etc.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has an irregular tour of duty and may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays and/or in other situations as they arise.
- The incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- This position requires the incumbent to serve one year probation unless otherwise completed.
- The incumbent may be required to perform TDY 5% of the time on an annual basis.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing recommendations and assisting in the establishment of an effective protocol policy; conducting formal and informal briefings; communicating with senior level leaders and staff within an organization and with external customers providing information and guidance.
