The position is located within the Social Work Service Line (SWS). Incumbent performs clerical duties in support of the service line at Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical and administrative assistance to the Chief of Social Work Service. Provide backup assistance in the absence of other administrative/clerical staff in the service line.
Duties
Collect trends and present data from various data sources and systems.
Prepare responses to internal and external request utilizing data.
Establish, collect and compile data for the preparation of recurring and nonrecurring reports.
Use software applications to draw information to prepare/assist in preparation of reports.
Serve as timekeeper; maintain personnel folders.
Document and reconcile Government Purchase Card uses.
Performs research and database searches; assists in the acquisition, development, and/or scheduling of program resource materials and personnel.
Maintain adequate level of program supplies and serves as back-up for the service line fund control points.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/19/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: collecting, compiling, and tracking of data and statistical information; preparing administrative and professional memoranda, forms and correspondence; and performing timekeeping duties. This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable .

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary nature with possible prolonged sitting in one position using the computer. Occasionally, employee is required to hand-carry light items to other areas within the medical center. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to be performed in accomplishing clerical and filing tasks.
