About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the US Army Intellegence and Security Command Enterprise/Surveillance & Recon Activity, GISA- Fort Liberty
Duties
Serves as the senior network technical expert for GISA-Liberty, supporting all wide area network(WAN), local area network (LAN) and Campus area network (CAN) telecommunications infrastructure and protocols.
Supervises senior-level IT contract employees, GG-12s Telecommunication/IT Specialists, and vendor CMEs involved in the conduct of strategic and tactical network, systems and telecommunication operations.
Responsible for the 24 X 7 network management of the Army’s entire theater intelligence TS/SCI Wide Area Network (WAN) network which includes the network hub located throughout multiple geographical regions.
Serves as the leading technical expert for the SONETand WAN/LAN fiber/copper cabling plants.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Required to complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570-01.M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program within 6 months of employment.
- Temporary duty (TDY) travel will be required (CONUS/OCONUS) 25% or less of the time.
- All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisissituations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
- Designated Emergency Essential Position: This position is considered essential to support Army's mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increasing tension or mobilization. Please see below under Additional information for details.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: experience designing, implementing, operating, or maintaining Information Technology (IT) network services; and experience trouble-shooting, fault isolation, or resolution of Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), or communications architecture deficiencies.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12).

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled.
