About the Position: This position is being filled in the South Florida Area located in Doral, FL working in a Family Medicine Clinic. U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), is one of the 10 unified Combatant Commands (COCOMs) in the Department of Defense. SOUTHCOM is responsible for providing contingency planning, operations, and security cooperation in its assigned Area of Responsibility which includes: Central America

Duties

Perform administrative tasks in support of the day-to-day administrative operations. Perform front desk duties receiving visitors and answering phones. Manages all civilian personnel actions from submission, tracking and completion. Maintain time and attendance records to assist office personnel. Process records relating to government travel card program. Serves as Records management officer. Maintain office files using automation systems. Manage office operations calendar.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical and routine administrative duties; utilizing automated systems to generate, maintain and produce reports; maintain and update information such as rosters, policies and procedures, calendars, files and employee information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Human Resources. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. AND Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget AdministrationClericalComputer LiteracyCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05)
