Serves as a Program Support Assistant by providing administrative support to a clinical leader and Administrative Officer under the Office of the Chief of Staff. The work consists of duties utilizing administrative and technical skills, and positive communication skills with internal and external customers.
Duties
The Program Support Assistant assists with the administrative functions of the Nursing Recruitment Program by providing a broad and comprehensive scope of supportive clerical and administrative responsibilities. This candidate will assist to prepare NPSB Board actions for all new hires. He/she will then draft correspondence to the employee to notify them of Board Action results. This candidate will process preliminary documentation and accurately prepare new hire paperwork for the Recruitment team while maintaining and updating the Nursing Roster/Tracking System for Nursing personnel throughout the corporate Medical Center. He/she will also assist applicants by answering questions, receiving applications, scheduling interviews and other duties as needed within the Recruitment Department. The candidate will report to the Chief of Nursing Operations. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsible for receipt and distribution of all mail and correspondence for the office ensuring items requiring follow up or actions are appropriately suspenced and presented for completion.
Assist with scheduling and monitoring of purchasing/procurement transactions for the full range of standard items and services to meet the organization's needs.
Serves as the liaison to schedule meeting, obtain conference rooms, arrange for, monitor, and secure equipment, teleconference lines, videoconference equipment, services, and products and copies as needed.
Coordinate travel, makes travel arrangements, prepares travel estimates and maintains records of travel cost of staff members and other budget items.
May serve as the primary timekeeper for the office and as the backup/alternate for services as designated.
Monitor and control business papers, correspondence, and records, including the coordination of minutes, action items, and documents needed by the office.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Performing a variety of administrative/clerical duties such as typing, copying, faxing, filling and other task supporting program needs; collect program information from staff and enters it into electronic information systems; compose various kinds of correspondence; and obtain and monitor the use of services, supplies, and/or equipment.
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience with Title 38, Title 38 Hybrid and Title 5 appointment authorities desired.
Previous experience with VetPro Credentialing, qualification standards, benefits and the maintenance and security of human resource files and records strongly preferred.
Previous experience of how personnel policies, EEO affirmative action policies and the culturally diverse workplace impact the Recruitment and Retention program preferred.
Previous administrative duties including Microsoft office.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
