You will serve as a Transportation Assistant (Counselor) in the Navy Household Goods / Personal Property Shipping Office (HHG/PPSO) of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER JACKSONVILLE. #LI-NAVSUPFLCJ

Duties

You will communicate with members/employees, their dependents or agents to elicit their shipment needs and services desired. You will review orders and determine the extent of entitlements and eligibility for the shipment, drayage or temporary/non-temporary storage of household goods at government expense. You will explain shipment and storage options, excess costs, special procedures for shipments under various types of orders, and approximate transit time. You will review and finalize applications for Shipment and/or Storage of Personal Property. You will respond to all member/employee and transportation service provider (TSP) requests for information/assistance.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You must obtain and maintain eligibility for assignment or retention to a sensitive national security position as a condition of employment, regardless of the requirement to access classified information.
  • You may be required to drive during inclement weather which could include up to 200 miles per day.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing work requiring knowledge and application of standardized transportation policies, regulations, principles and methodology to assist in customer transportation support assignments and related movements of personal property and household goods. Examples of specialized experience include some or all of the following: 1) Assisting in reviewing orders and determining the extent of entitlements and eligibility for the shipment; 2) Assisting in performing personal property shipment management functions such as providing counseling and entitlements regarding inbound and outbound shipment and/or storage of household goods; 3) Utilizing automated information systems to input a range of standard information to compile the required documents for shipment, calculate shipment and excess costs, or identify storage options.
