You will serve as a Transportation Assistant in the Transportation Division of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE.

Duties

You will collaborate with federal agencies, contractor personnel, ships personnel and commercial carriers to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of all shipments to support ship milestones and schedule. You will perform material data base management ensuring that entry, storage, auditing, and retrieval of data are accomplished within established procedures and timelines. You will work with Government and Contractor personnel to generate and review files for any discrepancies in Shipment Reports on incoming shipments that are damaged, short/over in quantity or misdirected. You will work directly with the Regional Transportation Office (RTO) to order required equipment to move material and arranges for pickup.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-06 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates performing transportation support work that includes utilizing, knowledge and application of extensive body of transportation regulations, procedures, operations, and automated systems to resolve a wide range of transportation support assignments and resolve issues/problems associated with generating, reviewing, signing Government/Commerical Bills of Lading, manifests, transportation control documents, and all documents necessary for shipment. I have experience identifying modes of transportation for the arranging of safe, expeditious, and economical movement of material and freight including special equipment and services required for shipment. Examples of credible specialized experience may include the following: 1) Prepares all documentation necessary for shipment of specialized material and or freight including hazardous; 2) Determines mode of transportation based on type, weight, priority of materials, performance of vendors, and economical cost; 3) Monitors the loading and unloading of equipment to ensure prompt delivery of material/equipment to avoid detention/demurrage charges; 4) Maintain logs on completed and pending shipments, damaged equipment and incorrect inventory; to prevent or correct error, delays or other complications; 5) Analyze documents to ensure compliance of contract requirements and transportation regulations.
