You will serve as the Command Government Special Access Program (SAP) Security Officer (CGSSO) for the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) at China Lake, CA and Point Mugu, CA (to include San Nicholas Island).

Duties

You will serve as the appointed subject matter expert (SME) to the NAWCWD SAP Management Officer (SAPMO) for all SAP activities involving the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, or other government agencies, nations, or contractors. You will establish a campus wide security environment to facilitate successful development and execution of SAPs at each location and eliminate duplicating efforts when possible. You will support unique program integration across multiple platforms. You will provide guidance, direction, coordination, and oversight to designated security leads/security specialists to ensure that all elements of SAP security are administered effectively, efficiently, and in a coordinated manner You will execute command wide plan for Field Assist Visits (FAV) to promote inspection readiness. You will appoint Government SAP Security Officers (GSSO) and ensure they are properly trained to perform their duties. You will communicate, both orally and in writing, risk analysis and recommend corrective actions. You will coordinate security support for complex multiagency testing and training events.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band (DA-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate duties related to the following: 1) Interpreting and applying knowledge of Special Access Program (SAP) Security policies and guides to provide recommendations for implementation to the SAP Management Officer, Security Director, and command leadership; 2) Assessing SAP security risk and providing recommendations/solutions to executive leadership. 3) Leading a team and mentoring junior Security Specialists; 4) Identifying the causes of problems and identifying courses of action that balance the interests of the mission and stakeholders.
