About the Position: Position serves as a Human Resources (HR) Specialist (Military) with the responsibility for providing technical advice and guidance regarding a wide variety of military HR programs. Position is in Human Resources Command (HRC), Officer Personnel Management Directorate (OPDM), at Fort Knox Kentucky.
Duties
Participate in the execution and implementation of an effective program in any one or more of the program areas.
Analyze significant military HR management issues and problems and develops recommendations and alternative solutions.
Serve as a staff member of a military human resources team responsible for providing a technical advice and assistance to all levels of management officials.
Assure that all policy regulatory and program issuances are properly integrated with other staff actions that are fully supportive of the organization’s mission requirements.
Assist in developing guidance, procedures, and standards for new and/or changing programs areas.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time away from the normal duty station.
- Position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the requirement has previously been met.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes a wide range of military human resources (HR) principles, concepts, laws, policies, practices, and systems. Interpreting and applying new laws, to rectify major problems areas in military human resources programs; leading a team, planning work accomplished by subordinates, assigning work, and evaluating performance; utilizing automated systems that support military personnel programs; and retrieving data for studies, projects, and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
