This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Civil Rights Directorate, Office of Civil Rights Operations, Solutions and Complaints Staff, in Washington, DC.
Duties
The incumbent will serve as the senior technical advisor on both informal and formal complaints of discrimination, drafting Final Agency Decision (FADs) and final orders, assisting deciding official with reasonable accommodation requests, analyzing files and drafting decision letters and policy on all aspects of the Coast Guard’s civil rights program under the leadership of the manager of the Chief, Equity, Policy and Compliance Division.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Requirements
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.

Qualifications
At the GS-14 level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal service, state, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Resume must demonstrate that you meet the specialized experience below:
Drafting written, analytical merit decisions and procedural dismissals to EEO complaints; AND
Conducting research on relevant EEO case law, EEOC guidance, laws and regulations; AND
Advising managers on broad, complex, and sensitive equal employment opportunity issues, and trends AND
Providing guidance and training to employers and employees on the Reasonable Accommodation process.
