About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Center.
These hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Duties
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1986. An individual convicted of a misdemeanor or crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. The duties, activities, or responsibilities of this position require the employee to do one or more of the following: use firearms. or ammunition; sell or dispose of firearms or ammunition; receive, possess, ship or transport firearms; or other duties, activities or responsibilities covered by the Gun Control Act (Title 18, USC, Sec 922). Performs and or assists other recreation assistants or specialists in the preparation and maintenance of indoor and/or outdoor recreational facilities. Inspects facilities and equipment to assure safe condition and cleanliness. Performs minor repairs and adjustments to outdoor recreation equipment to include shotguns, target throwers, paintball markers and air tanks. Issues and collects equipment. Collects, safeguards and deposits fees received from customers. Assists in conducting inventories, maintains records. As necessary, demonstrates basic techniques used and ensures that safety rules are followed. Assists in conducting special programs such as skeet intramurals, scheduled skeet shoots, paintball tournaments and parties. Works under the supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Director.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Experience and/or knowledge of shotguns and gun safety. Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules, and procedures. Ability to learn rules of skeet shooting, loading target machines and gun cleaning. Ability to safeguard and handle cash and skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable; however, no experience is required. Must be at least 18 years of age and have had no convictions of domestic violence. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence is not eligible for this position. Candidates selected for this position will be required to certify they have not been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence prior to assuming the duties of this position. False or fraudulent intonation provided by candidates is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment (Title 18, USC, Sec 100 I) and will result in removal from federal service. Subject to satisfactory completion of National Agency Check. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
