About the position:
This position will be assigned to the Aquatics Center on Peterson Space Force Base.
Applicants must be available to work rotating shifts between the hours of 0700 through 2000, including weekdays, late evenings, and weekends.
Applicants must be able to lift items weighing up to 40 pounds or more.
Duties
Duties and Responsibilities:
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons.
Ensure the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.
Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.
When working at pools may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards.
Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made.
May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.

Requirements
- Must be able to work an irregular tour of duty.
- Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both adult and child) training.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain current record of immunization.
