About the Position: This Security Specialist is located at White Sands Test Center, XO/Mission Support Dir, FBR Site Defense Force with duty location at White Sands Missile Range, NM. WSMR DoD's largest, fully-instrumented, open air range, provides America's Armed Forces, allies, partners, and defense technology innovators with the world's premiere research, development, test, evaluation (RDT&E), experimentation, and training facilities to ensure our nation's defense readiness.
Duties
Serve as Force Protection, Physical Security Officer and Information Security manager for the White Sands Test Center (WSTC) and authoritative point of contact for all inspections conducted by local and higher headquarters.
Maintain and implement the security elements of the WSTC Emergency Action Plan.
Write, update and administer security Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the directorate.
Manage the Velocity access control system for the WSTC.
Review, coordinate and process the required user documentation for System Access Authorization Requests (DD2875).
Authoritative point of contact for all inspections conducted by local and higher headquarters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) experience examining security documents to determine the suitability of personnel; (2) experience assisting in conducting on site security inspections of units, activities, and/or an organization in accordance with all applicable policies; and (3) experience assisting in implementing of policy and procedures for the personnel security program within the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-01/GS-05).

Education: Four years of study leading to a bachelor's degree.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
