About the Position:
This position is located in the Shoemaker Center located on Fort Cavazos, Texas. Work is performed in an office setting/call center. Work is Monday through Friday with no weekends or holidays. Hours can be from 0600 to 1500 or 0700 to 1600 based upon mission and staffing.
You will serve as the Chief of Central Appointment Service, which is responsible for scheduling patient appointments for 80 to 90 major clinics which involve approximately 800 health care providers.
Duties
Supervise 25 appointment clerks engaged in scheduling patient appointments by telephone.
Formulate training plans to ensure on the job training of employees is provided.
Assign work to employees based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and employee's capabilities to ensure work is distributed for completion.
Develop performance plans to council or rate employees against performance standards.
Maintain time and attendance records of employees after approving or disapproving leave requests.
Brief medical personnel on a variety of topics relating to hospital matters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- Position will require periodic immunization and tuberculosis monitoring.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using automated hospital systems to enter, manipulate, and or retrieve data; providing training to others; and scheduling patient appointments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Qualified typist is required (40 wpm).
