The primary purpose of this position is to inspect, repair, maintain, adjust, troubleshoot, modify, and perform final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assembles, and components.
Duties
Performs troubleshooting on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components.
Disassembles, repairs, and reassembles major aircraft systems, their assembles, and components.
-Performs aircraft scheduled and unscheduled aircraft/system inspections.
-Performs flight line and ground handling operations.
-Utilizes safety practices and procedures and controls tools.
-Accomplishes operational and maintenance record keeping, both manual and automated, associated with aircraft maintenance and repair.
-Establishes and maintains good working relationships.
Requirements

- Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
- Have, obtain or maintain a valid state driver's license
- Must pass flightline vehicle operations test
- May be required to pass test on operation of 20-ton crash/rescue crane
- This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- Must hold or pass certification for flight control and canopy rigging
- May be required to obtain and maintain aircraft engine run-up certification
- Performs Foreign Object (FO) inspections and FO walks in accordance with established regulations and procedures
- Must pass aircraft towing procedures test
- Disclosure of Political Appointments
- Must acquire and maintain Red X inspection certification
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, rotating shifts, uncommon tours of duty, emergency call back, weekends, holidays, overtime, etc
- May be required to travel TDY as directed by management, sometimes on short notice, traveling by military or commercial aircraft, or any other designated means
- May be required to participate in contingency situations real world or exercise, as directed
- Cannot be color blind to colors used for runway operations (red, green and white). Performs all other related duties as directed
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800, Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the job without more than normal supervision.

1. Knowledge of the T-1, T-6, aircraft makeup, operation, installation, and adjustment of a variety of major interrelated and/or integrated aircraft systems, subsystems, and assembles such as fuel and hydraulic systems, flight control systems, instrumentation systems, engines, landing gear assemblies, airframe, and control surfaces Skill selecting and using standard and specialized tools and test equipment including fixtures, templates, scales, test stands, and external power sources Ability to remove and install a variety of aircraft parts, accessories, components m proper sequence One (1) year m at least three (3) years performing as an aircraft mechanic on T-1, T-6, I aircrafts is highly desirable.

Comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of parts, components, subsystems, and assemblies such as Jet engine, hydraulic, electrical, election seats, canopy and landing gear system, or similar self-consumed systems Ability tong, function test, or troubleshoot systems, determine when they are operating properly or whether portions of the system should be repaired or replaced, and the type and extent of adjustment and alignment needed Knowledge of aircraft data and settings from cockpit instruments and gauges Ability to read and Interpret instructions, specifications and a I variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blue prints, technical orders, etc to troubleshoot and repair I various systems malfunctions .Knowledge of supply procedures, the publication order system, and documentation procedures Ability to perform as Task Oriented Trainer (TOT) to provide FTD type training to other personnel.
3. Knowledge of Red X inspection procedures for assigned aircraft and the ability to evaluate work, which has placed aircraft m Red X status.
4. Aircraft ground handling knowledge to include proper-tower radio operations and procedures, towing characteristic of assigned aircraft including landing gear, safety pins, wing locks, braking systems and tying-down and grounding methods, procedures for safely refueling and de-fueling aircraft and the ability to safely refuel and defuel aircraft Ability to operate 20-ton crane and crash recovery equipment to safely remove damaged aircraft from active runways and other airfield areas
5. Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined m applicable standards, regulations, tech orders and other girdles Knowledge of tool, equipment, materials accounting, and security procedures
6. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, make legible entries on maintenance related documents, and to use computer terminals to maintain records and document actions.

Work is performed m hanger areas, outdoors, m parked aircraft, and sometimes m hazardous noise areas Exposed to extremes m heat, cold, and inclement weather Must work m confined areas and m awkward pos1t10ns Exposed to dirt, grease, and aircraft fluid, Oil, hydraulic fluid, solvents, and hazardous fluid and gases such as Hydrazine and Halon Subject to cuts, bruises, muscle strain and injury from falls off scaffolds, ladders, and aircraft surfaces. May be exposed to intake suction and hot exhaust blast Working closely with others and alone.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
