The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of 812th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Operations Section.

- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program
- Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position
- Must pass flightline vehicle operations test within a 6-month period
- Must acquire and maintain Red X Inspection Certification within a 6-month period
- Must pass a colorblind test for colors used for runway operations within a 6-month period
- This is a Supervisor position
- This is a TERM position NTE 36 months from hire date
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WS-8852 AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR position. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment
Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures
Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test equipment common to trades supervised
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications
Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
