The primary purpose of this position is to swing shift supervisor in the Flight Line Branch, which provides sortie generation of T-1. T-6 available assets and works under the general supervision of the dayshift supervisor.

Duties

- Serves as a night shift supervisor in the Flight Line Branch (FLB) assuming functional control and responsibility for successful management of flight line operations. Redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work. - Maintains aircraft records and updates the Integrated MX Data System (IMDS). Documents aircraft forms and automated records. Utilizes the IMDS to ensure aircraft status is updated and current-during shift hours. - Provides on the job training and monitors applicable training records - Performs Red X inspection certification duties. Performs Exceptional Release duties. - Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas. Establishes and maintains good working relationships.

Requirements

  • May be required to travel TDY as directed by management, sometimes on short notice, traveling by military or commercial aircraft, or any other designated means.
  • May be required to participate in contingency situations real world or exercise, as directed.
  • Cannot be color blind to colors use for runway operations (red, green and white)
  • Performs all other related duties as directed.

  • Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
  • Have obtain, or maintain a valid state driver's license
  • Must pass flightline vehicle operations test
  • This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program

  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, rotating shifts, uncommon hours of duty, emergency call back, weekends, holidays, overtime, etc.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the 8852 - Aircraft Mechanic Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to Supervise. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Ability to accomplish work without more than normal supervision. Ability to make critical decisions responding to crises and weather changes when required. 2. Knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment 3. Knowledge of aircraft parts, components, engines, and an understanding of general airgrat mechanical systems and tools associated wi T-1, T-6 aircraft 4. Knowledge of Red X inspection procedures for assigned aircraft and the ability to evaluate work, which has placed aircraft in Red X status 5. Ability to evaluate program trends, develop and fully implement improvement plans. 6. Knowledge and ability to evaluate and correct IMDS and forms documentation errors of personnel directly under leadership. Knowledge of tool equipment programs, material accounting/procurement and security procedures. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignment require moderate physical effort. May lift, carry, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). Occasionally handles items greater than 18 kilograms. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. Works in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping are required. Occasionally, climbing and working in high places may be required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee usually performs work outside; subject to prevailing weather conditions, noise extremes, and slippery or uneven surfaces. Exposed to the possibility of fire, explosion, electric shock, burns bruises, cuts, grease, oil, dirt, and fuel. Working around machinery with moving parts. WOrking around moving object or vehicles. Working on ladders or scaffolding. Required to wear all safety protection equipment, if required. An annual hearing test is also mandatory.
