About the Position: This position serves as an engineering technician with the Edwards AFB Resident Office located on Edwards Air Force Base, California.
Duties
This position is developmental to the full performance GS-11 grade. At the full performance grade, the employee will:
Prepare design revisions to plans, specifications and cost estimates, or independently evaluate those prepared by others (i.e. project engineers, mechanical/electrical specialists, suppliers solutions).
Assist with change orders for a variety of projects requiring considerable adaptation of precedents or designs.
Review contractor proposals and/or user requests for additions, deletions, modifications, or other contract changes.
Prepare construction cost estimates.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- You may be expected to travel for this position up to 20% of the time.

Specialized Experience:
GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing construction schedules and modifications using management and financial systems and providing administrative and technical guidance to project personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
GS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of contract administration duties such as processing contractor progress payment requests and submittals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes supporting higher graded technicians in performing contract administration for construction projects and providing technical support for engineers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
