You will serve as a EDUCATION TECHNICIAN (AUDIO VISUAL/LABORATORY/OA) in the CENTER FOR MULTIDISCIPLINARY EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES (MDL), OFFICE OF THE DEPUTY VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF IFORMATION OFFICER of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.

Duties

You will work with faculty and technical staff to schedule, train for, and produce a variety of lectures, courses, seminars, conferences, and laboratory exercises. You will be responsible for the maintenance of electronic teaching and conferencing equipment, and to train others in its proper use. You will manage all aspects of the computer equipment and peripherals utilized in teaching and delivery of computer-aided instruction, including installation, configuration, networking, software maintenance and troubleshooting systems. You will report, record, track, prioritize and resolve technical issues in the MDL facility. You will stage, monitor, and de-stage lectures, demonstrations, conferences, and laboratory exercises. You will calibrate, maintain, and interface instrumentation ranging from overhead projectors, video/data projectors, and lab equipment. You will provide technical and logistical support for video teleconferencing and distance learning programs, including the establishment of telecommunication links prior to broadcasts. You will be working in a Anatomical Teaching Laboratory (ATL) and must be able to handle the psychological effects of working with human cadavers and specimens.

  • This position may require prolonged periods of standing, bending, stooping, and carrying objects of moderate weight (100 lbs).
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

For the GS-07 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing audio visual technical support functions for conferences, lectures, seminars, or laboratory exercises held for an educational program or institution. For the GS-06 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: utilizing computer software to update lectures or presentations for education or training activities. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled.
