You will serve as a EDUCATIONAL TECHNICIAN in the PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE AND BIOMETRICS DEPARTMENT of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.

Duties

You will develop, refine, coordinate, monitor, and facilitate the processes used to accomplish recruitment, admission, matriculation, and academic progress through program completion. You will perform an independent review of the processes of the Graduate Program Office and initiates appropriate changes when required to optimize its operation. You will develop and recommend changes to the registration and grading process. You will coordinate accomplishment of annual recruitment, offers of admission, and orientation of incoming students. You will plan the orientation schedule, arranges speakers, coordinates the registration, and provides the training of incoming students. You will maintain and manage the computerized graduate course evaluation system, trains faculty and students in it proper use, and analyzes and summarizes the results of each course evaluation for department leadership. You will monitor the academic progress of all graduate students including formation of thesis advisory committees, academic probation, advancement to candidacy, format of the thesis, thesis defense, awarding of the degree, and thesis publication. You will collect and compile complex self study data in preparation for site visits by these accrediting bodies. You will develop and coordinate the annual department Practicum Fairs and the department Independent Project Fairs, which introduce students to opportunities for service and research outside of USU.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing or coordinating administrative and analytical support for all administrative and financial areas of an office; coordinating the activities of programs of study for students; providing support and guidance to the faculty directors of each of varying programs; and directing the work of the office. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
  • Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR
  • Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree; OR
  • Successful completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled; OR
  • A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
