Oversees priority projects and strategic planning efforts that impact the Forest as well as tribes, partners, communities, other government/non-government organizations and stakeholders.

Duties
This Sustainability Strategy Project Manager will coordinate and direct resources on the Tongass National Forest to implement an integrated forest management program.
This work will align and support the implementation of the integrated forest management efforts identified by the Southeast Alaska Sustainability Strategy (SASS).
Relationships are woven into all the work conducted on the Tongass National Forest. An essential component of this position is engaging directly with federally recognized Tribes and Alaska Native Corporations.
The ability to maintain and enhance collaborative relationships with special interest groups, private industry, and other stakeholders is key to the success of SASS Forest Management projects.
Integrates interdisciplinary efforts and environmental compliance on the Forest.
Coordinates strategically with Tribes, Alaska Native Corporations, partners, stakeholder groups , and neighboring landowners to maximize partnerships, workforce capacity, funding sources, and project efficiencies.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-12: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as two or more of the following: provided technical guidance in the planning and executing of proposed projects; and/or developed and implemented strategies to complete the program of work most efficiently and effectively for assigned projects; and/or analyzed and measured the efficiency and productivity of programs or projects.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
