Duties
Duties listed are at the minimum full performance GS-09 level.
Performs and supervises routine cleaning and maintenance of the districts developed and dispersed recreation sites, rental cabins, and trails.
Processes special use applications including on-the-ground investigations of site suitability, screening levels, and preparation of associated NEPA reports.
Prepares special use permits, prepares and tracks bills for collection, and performs evaluations
Performs annual inspections of permittees and prepares reports.
Develops and maintains partnerships with community and other external organizations in providing these valuable public recreation opportunities.
Assists the Recreation Staff Officer in upward reporting, planning and tracking of expenditures, and ensuring that recreation data is entered into required databases.
Provides interpretive expertise for cultural and natural history resources on the district and provides a variety of public information at developed recreation sites, trailheads, and at the Ranger Stations.
Requirements

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-07 Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service or equivalent private sector experience. Specialized experience is defined as meeting TWO or more of the following: Assisted with developing plans and objectives to maintain, rehabilitate, construct or reconstruct recreation facilities, sites, trails or wilderness areas; Assisted with issuing and ensuring compliance for permits in land-use, recreation and non-recreation use; Assisted with inspecting recreation areas for public use and safety; Documented and reported trail and wilderness data to address performance standards; Assisted with managing volunteer and partner agreements through successful field projects; OR Provided input to work plans for recreation sites to generate visitor interest.

Successfully completed one full year of graduate level education in a recreation program of study. The education was obtained in an accredited college or university.

An appropriate combination of graduate level education in related recreation course work and specialized experience. The education was obtained in an accredited college or university.

For the GS-09 Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service or equivalent private sector experience. Specialized experience is defined as meeting one or more of the following: Participated in surveys and studies of wilderness and other specially designated areas, and/or recreation use, facilities, and trails; Engaged partners and volunteers to accomplish recreation and specially designated areas program goals and objectives; Processed and administered special use permits for outfitters and guides, resorts, campgrounds, or other recreation operations and services; OR Developed or provided input to contracts and agreements that support program delivery.

Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree in a recreation management program of study or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related

An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education in related recreation course work, (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
