Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-09 level, you must have one of the following:
1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level defined as collecting or analyzing data or information for environmental programs or projects; and compiling briefings, reports, or presentations
master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; the education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
equivalent combination of education and experience
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of national, state, or local statutes, regulations, policies, or directives related to climate adaptation and resilience; 2) Knowledge of climate change adaptation strategies; 3) Skill in project coordination; 4) Skill in written communication; 5) Ability to assemble and evaluate environmental data; 6) Skill in oral communication; 7) Ability to develop strategies and plans, working cooperatively with internal and external partners.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
