Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Facilities and Asset Management, Organizational Resources and Support Division, Business Operations Branch, located in either Euless, TX or Indianapolis, IN.

Duties

Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP) will allow you to utilize your expertise on a wide range of complex program activities related to program and project internal controls, audits, and risk management. This position starts at a salary of $122,198.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $158,860.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $158,860 (GS-14 Step 10). Typical Work assignments include: Ensuring organizational resources are leveraged, maximized, and utilized for their intended purposes; Ensuring quality system inputs, processing, and data management are in place to support data driven decisions and justifications for CBP resource requests; Leading collaborative efforts with Office of Facilities and Asset Management (OFAM) Divisions internal controls subject matter experts and leadership to develop OFAM internal controls reports, tools, policies, and standard operating procedures to promote achievement of program objectives; and Collaborating with internal and external OFAM stakeholders to coordinate/execute special internal control related initiatives.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Developing and monitoring business processes; Implementing and reviewing existing internal controls and performing gap analyses to mitigate risks; Preparing presentations and other written documentation illustrating strategic and technical information; and, Assisting in the creation of developing and maintaining risk management project plans. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 02/09/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
