Incumbent will serve as the primary purchase card user and program support clerk within the Biomedical Engineering Selection of the Engineering Service. The incumbent will provide administrative and technical support to the Supervisor. Biomedical Engineering Section in the completion of the mission of that Section. This will include the extensive use of purchase cards for all minor cost procurement activity and administrative support for the medical equipment database.
Duties
The incumbent will perform work in direct support of an administrative area such as: human resources, budget, procurement, purchasing, management analysis, or operating program analysis. Provides clerical, assistant, or technician level support from within an Administrative Office of from within a functional component such as the Human Resources office, the Budget office, The Purchasing office, or a comparable setting.
Performs clerical, assistant, technician, or support services supervisory work in support of a purchasing, procurement, communication system, and/or property management function.
Performs work in support of purchasing and/or procurement of services, products, supplies and/or equipment requiring a practical knowledge of applicable operations, procedures, programs, policies and regulations, or in support of a claims adjudication function.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pmVirtual: This is not a virtual position.

This position is covered by locality-based comparability pay.
Current employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held.
Time-in-Grade Restriction: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service.
Interchange Agreements with Other Merit System: Employees who occupy medical or medical-related positions and were appointed under 38 U.S.C. 4701(1) or (3) [formerly 38 U.S.C. 4104 (1) and (3)] must be serving in a full-time position without time limit and have served continuously for at least one year in this other merit system to be eligible to convert to the Title 5 System. Some exceptions to this rule may apply if you have previously acquired tenure under a Title 5 appointment.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/16/2024.Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-6) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: providing administrative support to clinics and healthcare personnel; general program support work such as the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data; preparing recurring and non-recurring reports; maintaining employee time and attendance reports; ensuring that supported program has appropriate equipment, supplies, space etc. and that such is properly maintained..

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts, or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
