Duties
The Administrative Assistant to the Marshal/Events Services Coordinator is a principal support services specialist for the Marshal's Office in the Supreme Court of the United States. The incumbent has principal responsibility for event management, provides administrative support for oral argument sessions and a variety of other support activities and programs. Works directly with high-level officials, outside vendors and contractors; responsible for researching, designing, planning, coordinating, and evaluating all events and programs under the direction of the Staff Assistant/Event Services Manager. Must be present for all assigned events (approximately 900 yearly) that occur in the Supreme Court, including after-hour events (approximately 50 yearly). Constantly faced with changing workloads, short deadlines and unanticipated requirements; logistical planning factors include room setup, rental equipment, audiovisual support, security, media, florists, transportation, entertainment, décor, and effectively integrating internal support staff and outside vendors. Assists with menu selections, initiates requests for proposals and negotiates catering contracts; assigns the duties of the Supreme Court Police, Building Support Services, Architect of the Capitol staff, and Purveyor staff in connection with each event and maintains financial records. Acts as the official Courtroom Timekeeper during oral argument; operates Teleconference Bridge for remote participants; works with IT to troubleshoot equipment. Responsible for receiving visitors, responding to and following through on telephone calls and emails, preparing and distributing correspondence and responsible for completing various assigned projects in a timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned by the Marshal.

Qualifications
Five years of experience with event management and support services procedures are required. A working knowledge of the Marshal's Office and the various offices of the Supreme Court, the Federal Judiciary and the Federal Government is desired; skill in gathering data and applying sound analyses; superior communications skills, both oral and written; sound judgment, tact, a very courteous demeanor and the ability to interact effectively with high-ranking officials and the general public are required; initiative and the ability to work independently within a team environment are also required.
Education
A high school diploma is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
