This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer.

Duties

As a Human Resources Specialist (Reasonable Accommodations), you will: Serve as a seasoned point of contact and provide authoritative advice on disability, hardship and reasonable accommodation services under the cognizance of the branch. Apply broad functional knowledge, detailed technical knowledge, thorough understanding of precedents, familiarity with the organizational environment, sound judgment, and discretion to deliberations. Play a role in ensuring that disability, hardship, and reasonable accommodation programs satisfy agency and OCHCO objectives and comply with governing laws, regulations, and policies. Identify opportunities for innovation and propose actions to enhance the quality and timeliness of services. Recommend significant, new service initiatives and participate in developing short-term and strategic plans and measurement criteria for branch, division, and office programs. Analyze employment practices to determine barriers to employment and reasonable accommodation of affected individuals.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Resolving or advising on regulations and agency policies that are often scarce, inapplicable or have gaps in specificity related to Disability, Hardship, and/or Reasonable Accommodation. Examples of this experience could include: - Preparing and conducting training, making presentations to high level officials on a variety of Reasonable Accommodation issues; OR - Reviewing or creating disability, hardship, and/or Reasonable Accommodation policies and/or procedures; OR - Developing and coordinating special assignments affecting an organization's Reasonable Accommodation program; OR - Conducting/administering Disability, Hardship, and Reasonable Accommodation decisions in response to HR inquires Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
