Duties
You will use thimbles, swivels, rings, hooks, shackles, and other fittings to accomplish rigger assignments
You will assemble and repair wire and fiber rope items (e.g., nets, ladders, boat falls, lifting gripes) for use in lifting and rigging objects
You will attach lifting devices (e.g., cable, chain falls, come-along, ropes, slings, hooks, A-frame gear) to move heavy objects and support equipment
You will compensate for variations in the lifting capacity of the gear caused by size of cable, type of splice, type of fitting connection, and angle of the lashings
You will determine type of rigging equipment, accessories, or special handling gear (e.g., pulley blocks, jacks, chain falls, rollers, beam clamps, plate clamps, dollies, cranes, forklifts) to be used in rigging lifts
You will Interpret instructions to determine the exact placement of items (e.g., pad eyes, paddies, shackles, beam clamps, chain falls) used to support and balance the load along the route
You will Interpret instructions from senior mechanics, team leaders, and supervisors to complete rigging assignments
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
