About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army 1st Special Forces Command, Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Duties
Serve as plans specialist and force manager for 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) with focus on ARSOF (Special Forces, Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations) employment.
Solve force management issues from initial requirements development throughout force deployment phases.
Advise senior leadership in the planning, resourcing and sustainment of ARSOF support (individual and unit), to Combatant Commander requests for SOF operations, activities, and investments.
Interface, coordinate, plan, and collaborate with all units for operations, planning, training, force generation, sustainment, and force employment / protection requirements.
Requirements
- Stress is inherent in the nature of the work. Short-suspense and other time-sensitive actions contribute to heightened demands on the incumbent. Under crisis operations, expanded work hours, 7-day workweek, and extended duty days may be required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret with SCI clearance.
- This is a drug testing designated position and requires the incumbent to complete a drug test examination prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is subject to perform temporary duty up to 10%.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Interpreting and implementing regulations and directives pertinent to Special Operations Forces and force structure for Special Forces, Civil Affairs, and Psychological Operations; 2) Developing special operations plans, force design and policies; and 3) Utilizing automated systems of record associated with Global Force Management / readiness such as the Joint Capabilities Requirements Manager (JCRM) database, the Army Synchronization Tool-Set (AST), SOF Ready and Microsoft suite applications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-11.
