The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an engineer technical expert in the design, development, integration, production, and procurement of Air Force weapon systems, components, sub-systems and/or support equipment in the area of Communication, Navigation and Identification (CNI) Systems.. Serves as the senior engineer and technical expert in the development and application of the functional area specified above in Mission/Purpose. Performs work associated with engineering for large, highly complex, and critical weapon systems, subsystems, and equipment to include reviewing, interpreting and/or developing engineering policies and determining solutions to the most complex, controversial, and significant issues. Represents the Organization to a variety of organizations throughout the DoD and other agencies. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with all levels of managers and executives of DoD, HQ USAF, HQ AFMC, MAJCOMS, and AFLCMC, as well as with other agencies, high-level representatives of industry, Congressional subcommittee personnel, etc. Evaluates contractors' technical proposals and provides comments and recommendations as technical expert in assigned area. Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific Positions. In this position,you willbe responsible for technical support for sustainment activities of the current F-35 Integrated Communications/Navigation/Identification (ICNI) system, as well as the development, system integration, and fielding of future F-35 Beyond Line-of-Sight (BLOS) Comms/Datalink systems and associated controls and display. Serves as the Comms/Datalink SME supporting related capabilities for the F-35 Mission Systems IPT. Requires general knowledge of CNI capabilities to assist in other areas as required. Requires experience in Data Links, Interoperability, Network Centric Warfare and Airborne Networks. 1. 1. The subject position requires a degree in engineering, or its equivalent, as specified in the Qualification Standards Handbook for General Schedule Positions, and extensive experience in systems engineering techniques and methods. 2. Extensive and broad knowledge and experience of engineering with emphasis in electrical/computer engineering fields including systems definition, requirements definition, analysis, design, integration and verification for the development, acquisition, and sustainment of aeronautical weapon systems, subsystems, and equipment. 3. Recognized expert knowledge and mastery of professional and programmatic engineering theories, principles, practices and techniques relating to integrated and technical risk assessments required to analyze very complex interdisciplinary problems to help customers identify, quantify and generate/facilitate development of risk mitigation strategies. 4. Broad Professional knowledge and experience with schedule and cost risk analyses to quantify risk impacts as identified in workshops or as part of Integrated Risk Assessments. 5. Professional knowledge of aeronautical, electrical, electronical, environmental, safety, chemical, mechanical and industrial engineering, software hardware components and system testing, and flight and lab testing to assess interrelated requirements and impacts. 6. Knowledge of environmental, safety, and occupational health and security regulations, practices and procedures, including Operational Risk Management. 7. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to represent AFLCMC and the Air Force and to develop, present, and justify technical issues, points, policies, processes, and plans as necessary in serving on committees, working groups etc. 8. Ability to organize, lead and integrate the efforts of other experts and specialists is required to develop new concepts and approaches; solve very complex interdisciplinary problems, develop new policy; and define new programs/technical plans and requirements.

Education

Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an institution with an ABET accredited engineering program.
