About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command, Safety and Risk Management Directorate Joint Munitions Command Safety Division located in Rock Island, Illinois.

Duties

Perform standard inspections of administrative or industrial environments to verify compliance with safety and occupational health regulations while managing a safety program and integrate risk management at an installation or activity. Resolve safety concerns related to ammunition or explosives handling, storage, and stowage for transportation. Manage radiation safety regulations, policies, programs, and practices to prevent potentially hazardous situations. Establish corrective measures based on analysis of accident contributing factors to prevent future occurrences. Monitor tracking systems for safety program activities; assisting in preparing, updating, and/or revising safety regulations or policies; and assisting in reviewing safety inspection report responses. Prepare the final report with recommendations for management in response to unsafe acts or conditions that caused personnel injury or damage. Interview personnel to obtain information about incidents and analyze cause and contributing factors to develop methods or procedures to eliminate similar occurrences in the work place. Analyze accident and mishap reporting statistics to identify trends and advise management on methods to address specific problems. Brief management as a subject matter expert to inform them on safety issues, policies, trends, or standards. Create local policies, procedures, and regulations to support compliance with higher level safety and occupational health directives. Ability to represent command and staff and promote leadership's vision, goals, and objectives. Ability to assess safety performance of motor vehicle accident prevention, transportation, and safe cargo programs and operations.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
