About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Human Resources at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks.

Duties

Some duties are at the full performance level and closer than normal supervision is required at the lower grades. IF Needed Perform clerical tasks such as establishing and maintaining all required forms, records and files pertaining to assigned work. Prepare reports in support of organizational programs, functions and projects. Ensure that supporting documentation is collected in a Travel System. Provide factual information regarding applicable rules, regulations, procedures and requirements to provide explanation of actions taken. Analyze facts, reports findings, make conclusions and recommend corrective or other appropriate actions. Perform complete review of travel order requests to ensure that the documentation is sufficient. Interview personnel to obtain additional information as needed to complete record and/or to correct discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • Employee must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • Employee must be willing and able to travel away from the normal duty station, 5% of the time.

For GS-05: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Entering data in automated systems; AND 2) Providing clerical support to ensure efficient office operations; AND 3) Retrieving data from various information sources, both manual and electronic. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment. For GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) applying human resources Military rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for processing personnel actions; 2) performing briefs; and 3) preparing reports on strength of personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education by 9. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Education
