You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the RAPID PROTOTYPING AND FABRICATION DIVISION of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA.
Duties
You will provide technical and programming services involving product manufacturing methods and processes to support new production/rework of weapons and weapons support systems utilizing Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinery.
You will create CNC programs using Computer Aided Drafting/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software to complete work on CNC machines and operate equipment as workload requires.
You will perform manual editing or revision of programs/designs initially created with CAD/CAM systems.
You will create solid models utilizing CAD/CAM software from two dimensional drawings.
You will perform analytical translation of engineering design and drawings to program control systems for the operations of CNC equipment.
You will develop CNC programs for parts and fixtures utilizing CAD/CAM interactive graphic computer techniques.
You will apply analytical geometric formulas prescribed in CNC machine tool manufacturing guides to convert control data into a sequence of numerical codes through CNC control.
You will setup and operate manual and CNC equipment to fabricate production and prototype products.
You will create setup sheets and tool lists to enable other machinists to complete work on CNC machines, as workload requires, that enables the operator to locate appropriate tooling, material and monitor the operation of the machine.
You will coordinate the initial setup and running of programs prior to releasing to the shop floor for implementation.
You will train other machinists in the operation and setup of CNC machines, creating solid files from two dimensional drawings and creating CNC programs.
You will analyze engineering drawings and other technical data to determine the feasibility of manufacturing, repairing or modifying a part on CNC machines.
You will advise design engineers and process planners of the capability and limitations of CNC equipment.
You will provide specific data regarding cost, time, materials and tooling during the planning process.
You will explain the advantages of standardized features such as radii, holes and fillets to design engineers, recommends changes to ensure maximum efficiency of CNC equipment operation and cost reductions.
You will identify and implement solutions to issues associated with new production parts and weapon systems where there are no past process to refer to.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
For the GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-10) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying a wide range of technical engineering principles to develop methods and designs for the production of Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinery programs.
For the GS-10:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying a wide range of technical engineering principles to analyze methods and designs for the production of Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinery programs.
