About the Position: This is a Term position NTE 2 years. This position is located with US Army Central G32 Personnel Recovery Section, Shaw AFB, SC.
Position may be filled by temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 2 years if a current permanent Army employee.
Position may be filled by term appointment NTE 2 years, if not a current permanent Army employee. Term and temp appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years and made permanent without further competition.
Duties
Independently coordinates, plans, and designs exercises to train and educate DoD personnel on evasion and survival techniques in support of USARCENT operations.
Deploys worldwide in support of Theater Support Teams to assist in the training, joint planning, and contingency support for PR operations.
Manages the Recovery Coordination Center (RCC) files and folders required to support the Personnel Recovery Coordination Center (PRCC) and prepares any briefings necessary to support planning.
Coordinates and ensures dissemination of operation-specific isolated personnel guidance, theater risk-of-isolation preparation, evasion aids, and SERE-related intelligence.
Reviews and evaluates the written guidelines for theater clearance program to ensure Personnel Recovery (PR) guidance is included in theater clearance procedures.
Represents USARCENT at subject matter conferences and training events.
Requirements
- Top Secret clearance required.

- Temporary duty travel (TDY) up to 25% of the time required.
- This position is obligated to the previous incumbent who has statutory return rights back to this position.
- Pre-deployment physical required.
- This position is designated Emergency and Mission Essential.
- Term trial period may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) coordinating, planning, and designing military exercises; 2) training and educating personnel on evasion and survival techniques; and 3) preparing reports, messages, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and correspondence relating to personnel recovery. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
