This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Assistant Commandant for Intelligence and Criminal Investigation, Office of Intelligence Security Management, (CG-22), Intelligence Special Security Management Division (CG-221), Washington DC.
Duties
This position serves as the Assistant Special Security Officer (ASSO) for Coast Guard Headquarters (CGHQ) Special Security Office, responsible for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) under the cognizance of CGHQ SSO. You will also provide routine advice and oversight on the sensitive compartmented information (SCI) security management programs and procedures for intelligence program reporting requirements.
Requirements

- Drug/Alcohol test is required.
- Non Disclosure agreement must be signed.
- State Driver's License is Required.
- Must complete a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
Qualifications
For GS-12: Applicants must have at least one full year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience include: Broad range of security program concepts, principles, and practices to independently review, analyze, and resolve complex security problems; developing guidance for security policies, procedures techniques and equipment for security controls; updating security directives, regulations, manuals, guidelines or procedures; drafting policy and procedural materials for disseminating to field or operating level components.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
