This position is located within Social Work Service at the Dallas VA Medical Center for VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS) providing a wide variety of administrative and clerical support.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Serves as the Program Support Assistant of the Social Work (SW) Service Care Transitions (Inpatient/Community Living Center - CLC) organizational units. Incumbent will provide various administrative and clerical duties in support.
Collects and gather data from multiple databases to complete various reports.
Establishes, updates, and maintains office files and records.
Performs office automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database, and/or graphics.
Uses word processing software to develop and create spreadsheets, memos, letters and varies types of correspondences.
Provides clerical support such as answering the telephone, referring visitors, or providing information about the office, its functions, and standard operating procedures, and similar information.
Maintains calendar and schedules appointments, meetings, and interviews for Supervisors and staff members. Makes administrative arrangements as required.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/09/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 level in federal service, that equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position and that is typically in and/or related to the position being filled. Specialized experience includes: Preparing a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, vitae, training brochures and other related materials; Review and process incoming and outgoing correspondence, regulations, and directives; Reviews and finalizes correspondence/documents to final draft. Proficient in various office automation software and processing procedures; Receive telephone calls, greet visitors, determine nature of call or visit. Arranges and coordinates meetings and/or conferences.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
