You will serve as a Inventory Manangement Specialist in the Nuclear Stock Control Section, Nculear Material Support Branch, Nuclear Material Management Division, Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will act as a point of contact and provide information for the naval fleet and fleet activities concerning the availability of naval reactor plant material. You will perform Inventory Management functions; receives material from various sources and ensure that material is inspected, tested, refurbished, and certified as acceptable for use prior to induction into the Navy Supply System as Ready for Issue. You will be responsible for the complete inventory management of all nuclear reactor plant components and material maintained within a certain group of classes of industrial material supporting the naval fleet and associated activities. You will ensure accurate and times processing of computer transactions for the receipt, inspection, repair, maintenance, storage, and issue of SMIC material. You will utilize PC to maintain records and produce data for analysis and presentation to management. You will provide assistance to warehouse personnel regarding inventory processes and discrepancies, performance of material maintenance, quality assurance requirements, segregation of essentiality levels, and hazardous material control requirements.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the 07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with the policies and procedures applicable to inventory management and other phases of material support, specifically support activity interfaces. Experience with NPM chapters related to the processing, inspection, and repair of both non-radiological and radiological SMIC components. Experience related to nuclear material control regulations and other material policies, including specific MILSTRIP/MILSTRAP procedures on requisition processing. Experience with the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department and shipyard organizational structure and procedures, particularly those related to engineering, inspection, expediting, production, and shipping. Experience with security regulations relating to the safeguarding and handling of classified information and material. Experience with field change procedures, preventative maintenance requirements, and disposal procedures for SMIC components. Experience with ADP techniques and capabilities, and the ability to apply these techniques to the Nuclear Reactor Program.
