Duties

You will perform routine and repetitive disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, installation and maintenance on equipment of limited complexity such as subassemblies, printed circuit cards, and chassis to complete electronics systems. You will operate automatic and standalone test equipment which is used to test/troubleshoot WRA's (Weapon Repairable Assembly and/or SRA's (Service Repairable Assembly's). You will use standard hand tools and a variety of test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, signal/pulse generators, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, and power supplies. You will assist other workers in the fabrication, overhaul, modification, installation, repair, and maintenance of systems, subsystems, and components as well as performing tasks such as removing and replacing defective parts and assemblies.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Incumbent must be able to lift, carry, pull, and push objects weighing from 15 - 44 pounds. Any weight to be lifted in excess of 40 pounds will not be attempted unaided.
  • Far vision correctable to 20/40 or better in one eye and near vision correctable to Jaeger 2 at 14". Must be able to distinguish color.
  • Subject to various noise levels, which continuously exceeds 85 dBA. NOTE: Hearing protection must be worn for noise a level of 85 dBA and double protection is required for levels over 105 dBA.
  • This position requires working at ground level and on occasion working on platforms which requires climbing. Incumbent is required to abide by Fall Protection policy and wear appropriate restraint systems when working 4 feet above ground surface.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Incumbent will be required to obtain CPR certification for this position.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1)knowledge of operating electronic principles such as microminiaturized digital and solid state integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, tube circuits, antennas, signal transmission, oscillation, and amplification; 2) Knowledge of circuit construction in order to recognize types and sizes of electronic components IE: resistors, capacitors, transistors and wiring; 3) Interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems to recognize the function and interconnections of the various assemblies and troubleshoot the system from the schematic, following signal paths through a complex path of interconnections of components, assemblies, subassemblies, and connecting cable harnesses; 4) Using a variety of hand tools such as soldering irons, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, wire strippers, crimpers etc., to effectively execute repairs, and replace defective components; and 5) Modifying systems by adding, altering, or removing components in order to standardize or alter the purpose of the equipment or to incorporate new features developed since the equipment was manufactured.
