About the Position: This position is located at Fort Hamilton in southern New York City, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, at the base of the world famous Verrazano Narrows Bridge. It is 20 minutes to mid-town Manhattan.

Duties

Provides staff direction and coordination Garrison-wide of special staff actions and projects for the Garrison Command Group. Position will also require the incumbent to personally staff and regularly coordinate staff actions on behalf of the Garrison Commander, Deputy Garrison Commander and Command Sergeant Major. Develops, plans and schedules to ensure that Garrison projects are managed properly and completed in a timely manner to meet command objectives. Formulates and recommends new policies and revisions of policy, program documents and regulations provide advice and assistance to the Garrison Commander/Deputy Garrison Commander/Command Sergeant Major. Responsible for review and oversight of incoming suspenses and taskings. Determines and develops manpower and budget requirements for the Garrison Command Group. Performs delegated personnel management tasks over a civilian workforce and military admin section.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) providing administrative support a major military installation by continually assessing the overall productivity, effectiveness and efficiency of the installation's base operations; (2) establishing and/or monitoring criteria to measure and assess operational and administrative goals and objectives; (3) developing related administrative regulations and/or program guidance for application across organizational entities; and (4) providing administrative support with budget, manpower and personnel administration tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Business Management, or Resource Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementDecision MakingManaging Human ResourcesOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
