About the Position: Located at Fort Hamilton in Southern New York City. Bay Ridge Brooklyn is at the base of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, is a vibrant cultural area, and only 20 minutes to mid-town Manhattan. Since spring 1998, the Fort Hamilton Military Community has been home to the North Atlantic Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; New York City Recruiting Battalion; and New York Military Entrance Processing Station. Commuter buses and trains are easily accessible from this location.
Duties
Oversees physical organization of the Installation Operations Center area.
Responsible for managing and implementing United States Army Garrison, Fort Hamilton, Continuity of Operations Plan.
Oversees information management operations of the Crisis Management Team (CMT).
Advises Field Grade Action Officers and government employees in the coordination of military action implementing National Command Authority Directives and Orders.
Manages information systems related to Command responses to crisis operations.
Provides automation and facilities for the daily command update briefings.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 pounds in the regular performance of duties.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position has been designated as "Mission-Essential".
- This position requires the incumbent to be in an on-call status which may require the incumbent to work weekends during periods when the Installation Operations Center (IOC) conducts an alert, training exercise, or is activated.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Working in an organization's emergency operations center; 2) Assisting in implementing emergency notification procedures for emergency response exercises; and 3) Assisting in the coordination of crisis management activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
